EMS ground breaking Essex-wide audit of faith/belief led mental health provision. Essex

Mind & Spirit (EMS) are nearing the completion of the first phase of their project to audit the faith/belief lead/run initiatives/projects across the county. Since the early autumn we have been engaging with residents in the four EMS cluster areas and distributing our questionnaire for completion and return. This has resulted in successful and very well attended, cluster engagement meetings being held in Chelmsford, Basildon, Colchester and Epping over Nov and Dec 2014. EMS has been overwhelmed by the positive response that the project has received from people of faith/belief and spirituality across Essex; as well as the keen interest shown by statutory and voluntary organisations serving the County. This has been reflected in the very good response rate to date. However, we would like to issue a final reminder to those that have not as yet responded. Completed questionnaires must be submitted by 5pm on 31 January 2015…

April 2015

The West cluster Mind and Spirit event on the 3rd of March went well and was well attended. Hospital Chaplain Reverend Paul Walker gave an illustrated introduction to the importance of Hospital visitation in meeting a persons spiritual /holistic needs. The importance of providing for staff holistic needs and support, particularly in the current challenging climate ,was also made clear. Following this three current chaplaincy volunteers spoke about their journey in to and current work at the hospital.

A Question & Answer time was also well utilised and following the event several other people offered their services and have asked to be included in future training events . The new venue - the SEPT lecture theatre at St.Margaret's Hospital proved a good venue and will hopefully become the new regular location for West M&S presentations."
